“Icarus” goes to Essen Motor Show 2024
The “Icarus” wide body kit for the BMW M8 Coupe GTE has been one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever worked on. From the beginning, I knew this design would push boundaries, but I didn’t expect how many obstacles we’d encounter.

We failed many times. The kit wasn’t perfect at first, and it took countless revisions to get it right. But those failures became valuable lessons. Bête Noire is still in its early startup stages, and “Icarus” represents a significant step forward — not just for the BMW M8 but for us as a company. Few others tackle projects this complex, and while there’s still room to grow, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished.
“Icarus” is more than a body kit. It’s a statement about ambition, creativity, and daring to push the limits of what’s possible.
Why “Icarus”?
“Icarus” symbolizes bold ambition — the desire to reach for something extraordinary, even when it’s difficult. That philosophy inspired every decision behind this design.
With its widened stance, sharp aerodynamic lines, and race-inspired styling, the “Icarus” transforms the BMW M8 Coupe GTE into something that feels both aggressive and refined. At the same time, it stays true to the car’s DNA, blending bold aesthetics with functional performance.
A 13-Kit Limited Collection
The “Icarus” kit is a limited release, with only 13 units ever being produced. Most of these have already been reserved, and only 5 kits remain available.
Kits that are booked will begin shipping in mid-2025, giving us the time to perfect every detail before delivery.

TÜV Certified for Road Use
The “Icarus” kit is fully TÜV certified, making it road-legal in Germany, Switzerland, and other countries. This certification wasn’t easy to achieve, but it ensures the design meets the highest standards of safety, functionality, and performance.
A Milestone for Bête Noire
“Icarus” represents what Bête Noire stands for. As a young company in its startup stages, taking on a project this ambitious was no small feat. But this is the kind of work that excites and drives us forward.
Few companies take on designs this daring, and that’s what inspires us to keep going. Every challenge taught us something new, and every success brought us closer to creating something truly unique.

The “Icarus” project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible efforts of M&D Exclusive Cardesign and Z-Performance. While we know the fitment of the kit wasn’t perfect, M&D’s expertise and attention to detail ensured it was installed as seamlessly as possible, showcasing the design at its best. Z-Performance took things further by bringing the car to the Essen Motor Show 2024 and displaying it prominently at their booth.
